Litigation
In 2023, Parole Prep formed our first in-house Litigation Unit. Staff attorneys have their own docket of cases and also train pro bono attorneys to represent incarcerated people in a variety of legal matters.
Litigation We Pursue
We primarily focus on appealing denials of parole release, challenging the Parole Board's determinations through the administrative appeals process and then in Supreme Court.
We also file habeas petitions, medical parole applications, and other incarceration-related petitions.

Appealing a parole denial holds the Board accountable, ensures better transparency, and gives applicants another chance to fight for the freedom they deserve.
"As a Pro Bono attorney, I felt supported in every step of the advocacy process.
From their thorough volunteer training to their attentiveness and creativity in supporting my legal work, it was clear to me that every member of the Parole Prep team cared as deeply about the liberation of my client as I did.
It has been a distinct honor for me to be a part of this beautiful community."
